Biography: I have worked in Musculo-skeletal Physiotherapy for over 25 years, including 8 years in the UK. One of my roles in the UK was at Portland Physiotherapy that specialised in treating knees, that began my passion of rehabilitating knee injuries. I completed a full time post graduate year at Otago University in 1997 and completed my Masters in Physiotherapy in 2003. I joined the team at You First Physio in 2000 becoming a partner in 2001.
Clinical interests: Special interest in knees with a passion for helping people with osteoarthritis of the hip and knee. Muscle balance and movement analysis in lower limb presentations is another key area of mine. This grew from work in the UK at Physioworks where there was a strong focus on analysis of movement dysfunction to help prevent recurrences.
Hobbies/interests: Hockey – both playing and coaching, Mountain Biking, Sport in general! Travel, Cooking and catching up with friends. I am mother to 3 very sporty children and love watching them play.

Clinical interests: I enjoy treating spinal injuries and lower limb injuries with a focus on muscle balance and correction of movement patterns. Biography: I am a NZ trained physio who has worked in NZ, Michigan (USA) and for 18 years in a private practice in London (UK). 30 years of full-time physio means I’ve seen nearly everything that would come through a physio’s doors! I returned to NZ with my family in 2014 and we made our home in Christchurch. I stepped off the plane, went to an interview at You First Physio and started working for them the following week.

Biography/ Experience: I have enjoyed working in musculoskeletal physiotherapy for 30 years. I initially worked at Christchurch Hospital then spent 3 years in the UK working in various musculoskeletal settings. On returning to NZ I completed a year of post grad study in Dunedin and worked over a period of 15 years at SportsMed in Christchurch where I gained a lot of sports physio experience and worked with various national and regional teams including: NZ Womens Academy and U18 Girls Hockey; Canterbury Mens and Womens Hockey; Netball World Cup and NZ Womens Cricket. Following that I worked in a London sports physiotherapy clinic which specialised in running. On my return to Christchurch I worked in an occupational health physiotherapy role before joining the fantastic team at You First Physio in 2011. Over this time I have continued my professional development by attending numerous courses and conferences.
Clinical interests: I have experience in, and enjoy, treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. My areas of special interest include: sports injuries, back and neck pain/ injuries, pregnancy and post-natal related back pain, hip pain, and rehabilitation including Pilates. Biography: I have worked for 5 years in a rehabilitation centre for neurological and musculoskeletal disorders, where I had the opportunity to increase my knowledge and skills in this area. Through a therapeutic climbing course, I also had the chance to combine my hobby and work in helping climbers safely return to sport and prevent injuries. I moved to New Zealand 2 years ago and joined You First Physio in 2019, where I am enhancing my knowledge, particularly in knee and shoulder rehabilitation.
Clinical interests: Rehabilitation of sports injuries, particularly of the knee and shoulder. Analysis of climbing injuries and rehab specific to their individual needs is one of my strengths and my passion. I enjoy keeping up with the latest evidence to enhance my patient care.
Hobbies/interests: I am a passionate climber and mountaineer, as well as a skier. I like to spend most of my weekends in the outdoors. I love exploring New Zealand’s hidden gems.

Biography: For the last 16 years I have worked in Private Practice in Lincoln (Lincoln-Sportsmed-Motus) and joined the team at You First Physio at their Longhurst site in February 2020. Being a senior Physiotherapist, I have completed many post graduate courses on muscle and joint injuries. If appropriate, I can manipulate and use acupuncture as part of my treatment.

Biography: I developed a love of movement as a dancer from a young age. I have a National Diploma in Dance Performance that I gained while studying at the New Zealand School of Dance in 2004. Since that time, I have worked as a contemporary dancer, teacher and choreographer before moving into the field of health and fitness. I have worked in NZ and further afield in London and Edinburgh as a personal trainer helping people rehabilitate in the gym before returning to NZ to study as a physiotherapist.
Clinical interests: I have a special interest in women’s health and am completing ongoing study in this field to help women throughout their life span from young female athletes, to pre and postnatal physio and beyond. With my dancing background I have an affinity with them and can understand movement patterns and love to see them return to the floor to perform at their best.

Biography: I started my journey into physiotherapy slightly late by deciding to hand in my job, stop running my Taekwondo club and move to Dunedin to study. It was one of the hardest things that I have done but I would highly recommend to anyone to aim high, give it a go and try their best. Since starting my studies, I now recognise how I have always loved analysing how the body moves, how we could create the movements to be most effective and how can we generate the most power.

I was born and raised in Ireland and have been living and working in New Zealand for the past seven years. Growing up I played a lot of sport.
I’ve been lucky enough to have worked with several sports teams in Canterbury and West Coast including Heartland rugby, club rugby, club football, club hockey, club rugby league, social netball and bowls. I have also had the chance to work with gymnasts and dancers at various levels. Through this I’ve become very passionate about injury prevention and concussion. One of my other passions is Pilates, I’ve trained in Mat and worked with Clinical Pilates with Equipment.

I am from Ireland and have been living and working in New Zealand for the past three years. I played a lot of sport growing up including hurling and Gaelic football and this inevitably gave me the interest in human performance. I studied sport and exercise science and completed my masters in strength and conditioning and worked as a strength and conditioning coach for elite senior level Gaelic Football teams and international women’s soccer.
I decided to return to study physiotherapy. I have worked in private practice in Ireland and New Zealand and have experience in the public health system also. I have worked with several sports teams including intercounty level Gaelic football, South Island premier league football and senior rugby.

Sports injuries including Hip and groin, knee and shoulder. I also have a special interest in return to sport phase from injury as this allow me to use my experience from my strength and conditioning roles.

Biography: I have 30 years of experience as a physiotherapist and the last 25 years have been in Christchurch Private practice. I have a wide experience of most musculoskeletal conditions. I have had some specialist training in manipulative physiotherapy, pain management and assessing and treating postural dysfunction and muscle imbalance in the body.

Hobbies/interests: I am a relatively recent but currently very enthusiastic participant in yoga and pilates classes. I enjoy walking my two dogs and exploring the outdoors with my husband. I am constantly amazed and how resilient the body can be if given a chance to recover. Healing is often not about what you do but how you do it and very often, small changes in exercise or posture can give much greater reward for your effort. Biography: I moved to Christchurch in 2012 to pursue my podiatry career and have worked in private practice ever since. I established Foot Werks Podiatry in 2018 to be inclusive of all areas of foot health whether it be aged care, diabetic foot care, sports podiatry, toenails or corns.
Clinical interests: I am interested in all aspects of podiatry and like to keep active in all areas. I enjoy seeing positive change in my patients that I work with, by assisting in increasing function and reducing pain.

Biography:In the ten years since I graduated as an acupuncturist, I have added to my skill set by studying Zhu’s Scalp Acupuncture with Prof Zhu himself, auricular acupuncture with Jim Chalmers, musculo-skeletal treatment techniques with Phil Macqueen, acupuncture in pregnancy and childbirth with Dr Debra Betts, and an introduction to Kiiko-style Japanese acupuncture.
Clinical interests:I am a generalist who likes working with everyone who comes in for a consultation. I especially enjoy the unexpected results of treating scars (surgical or accidental/traumatic), because the changes to the appearance and sensation of touching the scars can be dramatic. My treatments have been particularly beneficial to people with shoulder, back and knee conditions, but acupuncture is a holistic therapy that can affect every aspect of a person, including their sleep, digestion, and wellbeing of the mind.
Hobbies / Interests:In my spare time I practise Sing Ong Tai Chi and enjoy walking and cycling. I set up The Summer Project | He Hui Raumati in Dec 2019 and have been busy organising a special event for Mental Health Awareness Week in Sept 2020.
Why I love being an acupuncturist and part of the physios’ team I get so much satisfaction from seeing people feeling better in themselves, usually leaving my room in much less pain than when they came in, and having hope that they can return to their normal levels of activity. The team of physios at You First are the best! They are professional, caring and good to work with. Why wouldn’t I want to work with professionals who enjoy themselves and are happy to welcome new people into their team? I’ve been with the team since 2013.
Biography: I am married with two children aged 18 and 16 and have lived in Christchurch all my life. I am involved with netball as a games official and also support my son in his rowing journey with his school. I have been working with You First physio for the last five years and I love the interactions that I have with our clients, and the variation within my role.
Why I love being a physio/part of the team: The team here are amazing to work alongside as they are very passionate about their role in helping clients to achieve their goals. It is a very friendly, fun and positive environment to be working in.
Biography: I began working with You First Physio in 2016 and have become extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of the patient’s journey and dealing with ACC. Biography: For the last 16 years I have worked in Private Practice in Lincoln (Lincoln-Sportsmed-Motus) and joined the team at You First Physio at their Longhurst site in February 2020. Being a senior Physiotherapist, I have completed many post graduate courses on muscle and joint injuries. If appropriate, I can manipulate and use acupuncture as part of my treatment.
Clinical interests: I enjoy treating all types of injuries and am experienced in diagnosing and treating with a “Hands On” approach plus exercises.
Hobbies/interests: Outside work, I enjoy biking, netball and keeping busy on our 10-acre block.
Why you love being a physio/part of the team: There is a great team environment at Longhurst. Also being able to work alongside Podiatry and Hand Therapy gives us the benefit of their skills if needed

Biography: I grew up in Germany and after graduating worked at the University Nurnberg, in a Rehab hospital in the Black Forest and in private practice. In 1999 I moved to New Zealand and worked at Timaru Hospital and Older Persons Health in Christchurch before joining You First Physio in 2007. In 2019 I completed my Yoga Therapy Teacher training. Over my years working in Germany and NZ I have worked in orthopaedics, neurology, psychiatry, older person’s health, amputee care and an acute care/rehab hospital
Clinical interest: Back and Upper Limb/Shoulder/elbow injuries with focus on hands-on techniques, especially myofascial release and trigger point treatments and exercise prescription
Hobbies/interests: yoga, reading, music, dance, travel, hiking, walking and riding my bike,
Why you love being a physio/part of the team: I enjoy being part of a dynamic, dedicated team. I have worked out at the Longhurst site for the past 5 years and love the team approach there. We have a multidisciplinary team that have gelled into great friends as well as work colleagues.

Biography: I developed a love of movement as a dancer from a young age. I have a National Diploma in Dance Performance that I gained while studying at the New Zealand School of Dance in 2004. Since that time, I have worked as a contemporary dancer, teacher and choreographer before moving into the field of health and fitness. I have worked in NZ and further afield in London and Edinburgh as a personal trainer helping people rehabilitate in the gym before returning to NZ to study as a physiotherapist.
Clinical interests: I have a special interest in women’s health and am completing ongoing study in this field to help women throughout their life span from young female athletes, to pre and postnatal physio and beyond. With my dancing background I have an affinity with them and can understand movement patterns and love to see them return to the floor to perform at their best.
Hobbies/ interests: Being a mum to my 2 young daughters
Why I love being a physio/part of the team: I enjoy being able to incorporate my love for movement into helping people recover from injury. I also enjoy guiding people to reach their movement goals.

Biography: I am a proud Cantabrian through and through, and was present for all of the earthquakes, floods and fires. Since graduating I have worked in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and have taught Mat Pilates classes for the last couple of years. I have joined the team at You First Physio in 2022.
Clinical interest: Mat and Reformer Pilates, Pelvic health, post-operative rehabilitation, return-to -work planning, management of hypermobility.
Hobbies/interests: I enjoy clocking some hours at the gym or running on the Porthills. Coffee is a bit of a passion and I will happily discuss all the best places to buy coffee in town. You will also find me involved in my local church community.
Why you love being a physio/part of the team: Restoring hope through restoring movement is a powerful part of being a Physio. I love that the values of You First Physio reflect my own. The team is super friendly across all sites, driven to be update-to-date on best practice and all about empowering people.
Biography: I am married with two children aged 18 and 16 and have lived in Christchurch all my life. I am involved with netball as a games official and also support my son in his rowing journey with his school. I have been working with You First physio for the last five years and I love the interactions that I have with our clients, and the variation within my role.
Why I love being a physio/part of the team: The team here are amazing to work alongside as they are very passionate about their role in helping clients to achieve their goals. It is a very friendly, fun and positive environment to be working in.

Biography: I have recently joined the team, working on Reception part time at both the Longhurst and Riccarton clinics.Being very much a people person I enjoy welcoming, interacting and assisting clients. I feel privileged to be part of a very friendly, happy environment, working with a passionate team of professionals.
Hobbies/interests: Outside of work I enjoy walking, tennis, dancing and spending time with family and friends.
