Women’s Health Physiotherapy

Women Health Physiotherapy Christchurch

Approximately 1 in 3 women are affected by urinary incontinence. Research has shown that rehabilitation of the pelvic floor muscles can be effective in treating mild to moderate cases of stress urinary incontinence. Around 70% of those seeking help become dry.

Pregnancy can also cause significant changes in women’s pelvic health. Symptoms may include muscle or joint pain during your pregnancy or after your baby is born. The pelvic floor muscles may become weak or injured. There may be a separation of the abdominal muscles (diastasis recti).

If you are currently experiencing any of the following

  • Pregnancy-related low back, sacroiliac joint (that’s the area above your tailbone) or pelvic pain
  • Leaking of urine (this could be associated with an activity, coughing, sneezing) or could happen on your way to the bathroom
  • Feeling a sudden and uncontrollable desire to go to the bathroom.
  • Are uncertain about returning to activity, exercise and/or running after having your baby
  • Have a concern about your pelvic floor or bladder function

Or you would like a 6 week (or after) postnatal assessment with a professional, empathetic physiotherapist

Then a women’s health physiotherapy appointment could be for you. Put yourself first and don’t suffer in silence any longer.
